Traditionally, an ATV plow is lifted and lowered with an electric winch. The winch cannot press the plow against the ground and the plow floats with its own weight and the plowing of the trapped snow is laborious or even impossible. The turning of the plow is done mechanically by hand. The driver gets up from the ATV bench and goes to turn the plow to the desired angle.

ATV hydraulics are becoming more common. The ATV hydraulics already have several applications. The most common hydraulic implement in ATVs is the hydraulic plow. The hydraulics allow the plow to be lifted and, most importantly, pressed against the ground. The pressing on the plow can be used to remove hard snow and dust. With hydraulics, the plow can be turned steplessly and the driver does not have to get off the bench.
